Update September 2012
Unfortunately, we come baring bad news with this post; the abandoned Brookfield AFS Radar Base [also known as the Former Trumbull County Nursing Home Facility] located in Brookfield, Ohio is no longer under ownership of Trumbull County and now belongs to a private entity.
Sadly this means that it is only a matter of time before the historical value of the site is completely demolished for prospected mineral rights (Natural Gas). Since the county did not re-list the property for a sealed bid ‘auction’, (due to issues with the previous bid), we unfortunately did not have the opportunity to go after the property in hopes of restoring some of the buildings and the projected placement of our production facility at that location.
Our desires were to restore some of the buildings (the ones that were able to be restored) and have them listed as a historical site. We also planned on placing our production facility on the property and leaving the ability for other filmmakers (and possibly military & police agencies) to use the property.
People should not attempt to enter the property. Police do patrol the area and the new owners are not exactly friendly to trespassers.
The film crews that were using the property under the permission of Trumbull County, will most likely wrap production very soon in lieu of using this location and we (personally) will be moving to secondary filming locations although our agreement with the county was to use it for quite some time still.
Since we were unable to procure that specific property, we are temporarily placing the building of our production facility as well as the hiring of talented graphical oriented workers until a date to later be determined.
